Review of “Ultrabalm” by Lush Cosmetics

Hey Everyone!

So this week, I am going to talk about my new favorite product!

If you read my blog last week, you’ll know about my awful chapped dry lips (and if you haven’t, you can find the link here).

I first want to say thank you to everyone for their suggestions! It’s reassuring to know that I’m not the only one who has less than ideal lips and I was overwhelmed with all of the support and suggestions that I received from you guys so thank you!

But the lip product I chose to test out to cure my dry, chapped lips at the moment is “Ultrabalm” by Lush Cosmetics!

Ultrabalm is actually an all purpose balm “for all your bits that chap and chafe”. Ultrabalm is comprised of “three simple, effective petroleum-free ingredients” and can be used “anywhere that needs a little moisture” (all info taken directly from the lid of the product). The man who rang me up told me that you can put this on dry skin, cuts, scrapes, etc so it isn’t just for your lips!

What is so cool about this product is if you flip it over, it tells you who made the balm, the exact date it was made and when it will expire. So mine was made by a guy named Greg on 12/31/2014 and will expire on 2/28/2016.

The product is 100% natural, preservative free and is cruelty free. Ultrabalm retails for $13.95 and it might look small, but this is going to take me a while to go through and I use it every night!

So the best way I can describe Ultrabalm is it is similar to the texture of Vaseline, however, when you put it on your lips, it thins out as you spread it around. So it’s not like having a thick layer of Vaseline on your lips, which I like because I feel like Vaseline just wipes off when I sleep. I don’t have that feeling with Ultrabalm at all, I feel like it just sinks into my lips and it’s wonderful. The balm has a bit of a smell, but I don’t find it annoying or very strong at all. It isn’t like Lush made it scented on purpose, it just smells like the combination of the three ingredients used to make the product. And I find that once I put it on my lips, the smell goes away a few minutes later once I get used to it.

I put it on my lips every evening when I go to bed and sometimes I’ll put just a tiny bit in the morning when I’m getting ready to prep them for lipstick/liquid lipstick. And a little bit goes a long way!

I’ve had this balm for a week now but I swear, my lips wouldn’t recognize themselves from a week ago! I mean, I can even wear matte lipsticks now!

Definitely check this product out, either in store or online at this link here.

They also have a ton of other skin/face products as well. If you’re surprised that I didn’t already know this…yeah well, I’ve never been into Lush before. I’ve always wanted to get those cool bath bombs but I have sensitive skin so I wasn’t sure if their products were for me. So if you have sensitive/dry skin, let me know what you think of their bath bomb products! I’d love to try them if it won’t break out my skin!

Thank you for reading! Leave your thoughts, suggestions, comments, etc below!

Don’t forget to follow my blog! I try to post every Friday, so keep a look out for my next post! I’m excited about this next one!

Follow me on Twitter and thanks for chatting with Jack!

  1. My Twitter handle is @iidoydoyii 🙂 I liked this review a lot, especially cos I have never looked to Lush for anything really. I try not to get sucked into their awesomeness cos it is so expensive. If the lip balm cures your lips then it is totally worth it. I will have to give this a try. (After i finish like five of my lip balms)

  2. Thanks for the blog visit and follow! Funny how I came across this post because I was just at Lush yesterday to replenish a face mask and get their Mint Julips lip scrub. Guess I’ll have to go back again and check out this balm. 😛

  3. Hiiii! Just came across this 😀 I haven’t tried this product but have tried a few of their other lip balms and fhey’re amazing!
I would recommend getting their lip scrubs though for dry lips and then applying the balm after. You can actually eat the scrub off your lips it’s very strange but the results are amazing! 🙂 xxx
